University of Mannheim

Florian

My name is Florian Hagenbeck. I was born and I grew up in Nürnberg. Since September 2011 I am a B.A. Student of Political Science and History at the University of Mannheim. Before going to university, I absolved an apprenticeship as chef and worked in the gastronomy for some years. After this I served in a hospital as civil servant before I started school again to gain my final degree. Especially during these years I have been able to gather experience in the areas of political youth-education and project management.

At University I came in touch with Model United Nations and worked as conference-manager and chair. I am also engaged in the German United Nations Youth Association (UNYA) Network (“Junges UNO Netzwerk” JUNON).

Rahel Klein  General Assembly

Rahel

My name is Rahel, I`m 22 years old and I`m studying political science at the University in Bonn. The SiegMUN two years ago was my first contact with MUN. Confernces in Hamburg, New York and Vilnius (Lithuania) followed. Last year, I was head-chair of the Security Council in Siegen and this year I will be one of the chairs in the General Assembly. Leony Meis Perreira   General Assembly

University of Paderborn

Leony

Leony studies English, Spanish and French at the University of Paderborn. In 2009 while spending seven months in Seattle, WA, she heard of the concept of Model UN for the first time. Interested in that concept she joined the Model UN group PaderMUN after being back in Paderborn. Then in 2011, she attended her first conference: the NMUN in New York. Being totally overwhelmed and excited about her experiences at  the NMUN 2011, she decided to gain more MUN experience, in particular from different angles. So she attended the LahnMUN 2011 as the Head Delegate of the Delegation from Paderborn. Later in July together with Anke Riebau as SG, she organized her first own conference as Chief of Staff. At the SiegMUN 2011 she chaired the Human Rights Council as well as the General Assembly at the PrepMUN 2012 in Paderborn. Being the Vice President of PaderMUN at that time, she and Anke wanted to achieve more than simple participation at the NMUN. After a long preparation they took the Delegation from Paderborn to the NMUN 2012 as Head Delegates and were recognized as “Distinguished Delegation” but also won an “Outstanding Position Paper Award” within their own committee. Becoming the President of PaderMUN this year, she served as Secretary-General at the PaderMUN 2012. Leony is very excited about taking the next NMUN generation to Siegen as well as having the opportunity of being a Member of Staff of the SiegMUN 2012.

Svenja von Itter  –  General Assembly

University of Konstanz

Svenja

My name is Svenja, I am 23 years old and just started the M.A. Program “Studies in European Culture” in Konstanz after doing my B.A. in “Literary, Cultural and Media Studies” in Siegen. In 2010 I was part of the first SiegMUN and attended MUN conferences in Hamburg and New York. Therefore I feel honored to be one of the chairs of the General Assembly in this years’ SiegMUN conference.

Anke Riebau  Human Rights Council

University of Paderborn

Anke

During her study abroad in Chicago (USA) in the year 2009, Anke got to know the concept of a Model United Nations Conference. Back in Germany in 2010 she attended her first conference in Paderborn, as well as attending the National Model United Nations Conference in New York City. In 2011 she attended a couple of conferences in Germany, as well as serving as the President of SiegMUN’s ECOSOC committee and within the same year, served as Secretary-General at the PaderMUN Conference. At this time, being the President of Paderborn’s Model United Nations Group, she decided that there is more to achieve than a simple attendance at New York’s Conference, therefore she formed an organization board together with Leony, preparing Paderborn’s 2012 NMUN Delegation, by serving as Head Delegate, through workshops and Preparation Conferences. This lead to a huge success at 2012’s New York Conference, having the Delegation win three Awards (esp. “Distinguished Delegation”) and Anke winning an “Outstanding Position Paper” Award in her committee, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs. She will, again, serve as Head Delegate of Paderborn’s Delegation and prepare them for attending the National Model United Nations Conference 2013, hoping it to be just as successful as last year’s conference by winning Awards again. Anke is very excited to be a Member of Staff at the SiegMUN 2012 again and is looking forward to a successful conference.

Silvia Sporkmann Human Rights Council

University of Paderborn

 Silvia

Silvia attended her first conference in January this year and has since been thrilled to participate in more. She was part of the University of Paderborn’s delegation at the National Model United Nations Conference 2012 and contributed to the delegations “Distinguished Delegation” Award by attending the RIO+20 committee. Having recently been elected as PaderMUN’s Vice President, she has also been involved in the election process for Paderborn’s new NMUN delegation. In 2013 she will, again, be part of Paderborn’s delegation in New York City and is hoping to be able to continue the success the delegation reached this year. Silvia is excited to be a member of Staff at a MUN conference for the first time at the SiegMUN 2012.

Miguel Wahle

University of Siegen

Miguel

Miguel is studying Social Science and Economics. Since he started his bachelor program at the University of Siegen, he is a member of Model United Nations Siegen and participated in several conferences, like Marburg, Hamburg and New York. During the first SiegMUN-conferences in 2010 and 2011, Miguel was one of the leading organizers. Beside this great interest in international politics, he is also a chairman of a political youth organization in his home city. For Miguel, engagement means to improve soft skills, expand his own horizon and the most important issue: the great opportunity to meet new and interesting people.

Stephan Dietz

University of Siegen

Stephan

He started his studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen with Biology, Social Science and Theological Science in order to become a teacher. After some time he noticed that this kind of work does not fit in his future plans so he moved to the University of Siegen and began his Bachelor in Social Science and Media Studies. Being interested in governmental use of media and his general affection for all kind of social media, advertisement and the use and development of those topics defines his plans for the future after he gained his master degree.
Participating in the Model United Nations Projects gives Stephan the possibility to get to know more different and new people, train his teamwork and organizing skills and to develop his communication skills.

Jana Klein

University of Siegen

Jana

Jana studies Social Science and Economics in the 5th Semester at the University in Siegen. Her first MUN experience was the SiegMUN in 2011 and in April 2012 she participated at the first Lithuanian MUN. In Jana’s opinion, Model United Nations is a great learning-by-doing opportunity to gain knowledge about global issues and how the UN actually works, thus bringing theoretical matter to life. But most important for her is the social and intercultural factor:  getting in touch with a lot of new people from different countries, getting new inspirations and improving one’s English and soft skills. As her first contact with the concept of MUN was at the SiegMUN, she is very happy to be part of the organizing team for this conference.

Pamela Lieb

Pamela

Pamela is 24 years old and started attending the University of Siegen in the winter term of 2009/10. She chose Literature,Culture&Media Studies with Spanish and English as main subjects and is hoping to graduate this term. Participating as a delegate at the LahnMUN 2011 in Marburg was very inspiring for her. Unfortunately she was not able to attend the SiegMUN 2011, as she was doing a term abroad in Mexico. But now she is happy to be back and contribute to the organization of the SiegMUN 2012!

Sebastian Nentwig
