Chair of the UNICEF

Safurat

My name ist Safurat Balogun and I am currently studying Social Science and Social Policy at the University of Siegen. I participated at the SiegMUN last year and as well at the PaderMUN. Also, as a delegate of the NMUN New York I could gain a lot of experience as it is the biggest MUN. Now at the SiegMUN 2013 I am glad to be a chair of the Unicef Committee because my passion with working with children is big and I am looking forward to working together with you all.

Amrita Sukumar

Chair of the UNICEF

Amrita

My Name is Amrita Sukumar. I have participated in Sieg Model United Nation Conference 2012, Representing India in Human Right Council. At University Siegen, I am studying Master in Economic Policy. Siegen was the first place where I discovered my love for Model United Nation. SiegMUN 2012 was the capstone of my Model United Nation experience. My SiegMUN was a varied, engrossing, relevant and academically rigorous experience. It’s an experience where I am short on words. Without SiegMUN 2012, I would never have the opportunity to be in such close contact with the honourable chair and other fellow delegates from all part of world. I felt extremely privileged to attend this conference. SiegMUN 2012 gave me an opportunity to represent India as a delegate.

After SiegMUN 2012, I participated in NMUN NY 2013. I found that this is where my skill, happiness and interest lie. It is this challenging environment to which I intend to contribute by evolving meaningful and optimal solutions to various problems. NMUN 2013 taught me the relevance of actually sharing the idea with others cordially. It was wonderful to wake up early in morning and think you have a great responsibility as a delegate. I think this was the greatest experience when preparing for your life time carrier. It helped me improve my communication skills and developed an ability to work in a team, and build up my self-confidence.

This year I would be the chair of United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) at SiegMUN 2013. I am looking forward to meet more diversified people representing different delegation. It would be interesting to look into these broader perspectives and come to a common solution. I am excited for this program, because this will be my first year chairing at the MUN.

Hendrina Achten

Chair of the ECOSOC

My name is Hendrina Achten and I am 22 years old. I just finished my Bachelor in Literature, Culture and Media Studies at the University of Siegen. I already participated as a delegate at two Model United Nations in Siegen, one in Vilnius (Lithuania) and a PrepMUN in Paderborn. My MUN Highlight was the New York MUN this year. I really like to get in contact to different countries, cultures and people and share knowledge and ideas. Now, at SiegMUN 2013 I will chair for my very first time a council. It’s the ECOSOC - together with Rifat and Leony.

Leony Jakobfeuerborn Meis Pereira

Chair of the ECOSOC

Jean Maureen Maher

Chair of the Security Council

Rahel Klein

Chair of the Security Council

Sebastian Nentwig

Chair of the Historical Security Council

My name is Sebastian Nentwig and I’m 25 years old. I am currently studying Master in Media Science at the University of Siegen. Since 2011 I’ve been an active member of MUN Siegen and participated in the Security Council of SiegMUN 2011. In April 2012 I was a member of our delegation representing Mauritania at the National Model United Nations in New York. During the last SiegMUNs in 2012 and 2013 I was in the organization team and a member of the SC as well.

Beside university and MUN I’m in a table tennis club, read books (especially horror novels by Stephen King), watch movies and listen to rock music. I’m interested in astronomy and astronautics and also in world affairs and politics.

For me the most important thing at MUN is to get in contact with other people, cultures and to get to know about other views and opinions. It is exciting to step into other point of views, playing “in character” and representing positions that are (maybe) contrary to your own.

Robert F. Fernholz

Chair of the Historical Security Council

My name is Robert F. Fernholz. I am 26 years old, my main subject at the university are historical and religious studies, with the aim of Staatsexamen I. In the 2012 session of the SiegMUN I participated as the delegate of Russia in the Security Council. As for this year I am organizing the Historical Security Council, which is my first time to do so, therefore I am looking forward to a great conference.

In times, in which I am not occupied with university obligations, I read, but I have to admit most time this is in one way or another still connected to my interests in history and politics. (At the moment I am reading Sir Winston Churchill’s memoirs, for a second time).

For me MUN is on one side a great base to meet people, who share the interest for politics and diplomatic processes. On the other side it is a fascinating roll-play experiment and experience, as especially a historical MUN, in which you can s step into a historical situation and get a feeling for the processes, which shaped todays world order.

Luan Ngo - Secretary General

In autumn 2012 the 21 year old German Vietnamese student will attend his 5th semester in Business Administration at the University of Siegen. After his first MUN conference at SiegMUN 2011, Luan went to New York, Vilnius and Paderborn to either participate as a delegate or to help organizing conferences himself. For the last quarter of 2012, Luan will travel to Stockholm participating at the SMUN 2012 as a delegate, come back to Siegen to be in charge of SiegMUN 2012 as Secretary-General and attend HamMUN 2012, chairing the League of Arabs States. My MUN-career started in 2010 in the Czech Republic, where I attended the NMUN Europe. Since then, I have participated at various MUNs, in Germany and abroad, either as Delegate or Chair. Now I am very excited to go one step further and switch to the organizing staff. At the University of Siegen I just finished my MA-program “Roads to Democracy(ies)” and am now enrolled as a PhD-student.

Stephan Dietz

Director General

Stephan

He started his studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen with Biology, Social Science and Theological Science in order to become a teacher. After some time he noticed that this kind of work does not fit in his future plans so he moved to the University of Siegen and began his Bachelor in Social Science and Media Studies. Being interested in governmental use of media and his general affection for all kind of social media, advertisement and the use and development of those topics defines his plans for the future after he gained his master degree.
Participating in the Model United Nations Projects gives Stephan the possibility to get to know more different and new people, train his teamwork and organizing skills and to develop his communication skills.
