What is SiegMUN?

SiegMUN - Siegen Model United Nations – is a Model United Nations conference which has been held since 2010. The conference takes place at some of the buildings of the University of Siegen and is completely held and organised by an independent students' group (MUN Siegen).

SiegMUN is a conference where university students and high school students from Germany, Europe and other continents come together to simulate international politics. Every participant role-plays as a diplomat representing one country which can be chosen by himself. The participants represent the position of one country in a simulated session of an organ (committee) of the United Nations, such as the Security Council or the General Assembly. Therefore all participants research a country, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

Take a look at our homepage to get information about SiegMUN, the current topics on our agenda and how to apply.

This year, about 200 participants are expected at the SiegMUN conference. Some of them already have experience, but many of them will be newcomers. New participants are always welcome! You can apply either alone or with some friends from your University/School.

The conference is held in English, but don’t worry! You do not have to be a professional speaker to take part and have fun. Moreover there is a rules workshop where new participants can learn the required conversation skills.
